Power of Prayer

Prayer is a great tool that is given to God’s people which allows them to receive God’s power. God’s people must understand the importance of prayer in there life of faith. Elohim, our Heavenly Father and Mother, who is the Creator of the whole universe can surely do anything when we ask in prayer.

The difference between the impossible and the possible

Through the example of the Jesus and the apostles we can see the apostles had faced a situation that they could not succeed. The apostles were not able to drive out a demon that possessed a boy. After turning to Jesus, we can see through this scene the way to succeed.

Mark 9:28-29 “Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” He replied, ‘This kind can only come out by prayer”.

Through this example it is clear that many things are only possible through prayer. Before the apostles were not able to drive out the demon, but through the example of Jesus they came to understand that in prayer the impossible becomes possible.

The bible history records that prayer is a powerful tool

Not only in this case, but we can also see through the stories of Jonah, Job, Elijah and Daniel that prayer is a powerful tool. Daniel was dedicated in prayer and prayed even three times toward Jerusalem. Even in times of persecution, he prayed faithfully and achieved a great result of not being harmed when he was thrown in the lion’s den.

In the case of Jonah, temptations were driven away and 120,000 Ninevites came to repentance after Jonah had prayed to God. Job was able to be overcome a great tribulation in his life by practicing patience and prayer. Elijah overcame 850 false prophets and revealed the true God after he prayed earnestly. Truly so many amazing works of God’s mighty power are done through prayer.

Jesus set us the example of praying

A life of prayer is following the example of Jesus and the apostles. Through Jesus’ word, everything is possible for those who believe. This is why the bible teaches us that we should pray continually

1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 Rejoice always, pray continually…

Jesus prayed earnestly, even before He was going to be crucified, he prayed all through the night. Jesus set this example to show just how important prayer is and no matter the circumstances we should always pray. Then this is why apostle Paul too taught to pray continually and recorded it in the bible. Since prayer is recorded in the bible shouldn’t there be a reason it is included? Surely God allows every word to be recorded to serve a purpose. Then the words “pray continually” we must take to heart and practice, in order that, these may can follow the example Jesus Christ.

Life without prayer is sin

Prayer is essential to continually practice, in fact it is a sin not to pray.

1 Samuel 5:23 As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.

There are many types of sins in the bible and we can definitely see that not praying is a big sin as well. We should pray to God for blessings continually. When we do so we can not only come to not sin against God but also receive God’s blessing. We never neglect praying to God in every situation or at various times in our days.

Gifts through prayer

Prayer is always present before a great work is done. When we pray we ask for the power that comes from Heavenly Father and Mother who created everything by Their word. For example, in the time of King Hezekiah who became ill and was at the point of death but had his prayers answered by God.

Also, God showed pouring out forgiveness on his people after the Israelites prayed earnestly in the desert. Though the Israelites committed great sin against God in the desert, once they prayed for forgiveness with all their heart they were able to receive forgiveness. After they were forgiven they were able to receive the 10 commandments once again.

What should our mindset in prayer be?

In order to receive God’s blessings we must pray with faith and not half heartedly. When we pray with great faith our prayers will be answered.

Matthew 7:7-11 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds and to him who knocks the door will be opened. Which of you, if his son asks for bread will give him a stone? or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

Jesus came 2,000 years ago teaching us to seek, ask and knock. The reason God teaches us to pray is definitely because God wants us to receive many blessings. However with what kind of mind should we pray? Our mindset must not be one that offers a prayer to God, with a wrong motive, a sinful mind or for selfish gain. God does not grant those prayers.

Instead, when we have faith and seek God’s righteousness the door will be opened and we will find God’s blessing.

Matthew 21:22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer

When we have faith in God Elohim we surely will have our prayers answered. Therefore, our prayers that are offered to God Elohim must not come from a sinful mind. Instead, when we pray in obedience of God’s will it will be answered without fail. Whether it is a prayer of  forgiveness, asking for power or asking to defeat the enemy God will answer all the prayer that are in His will. Whenever we meet a difficult or troubling situation we should use the most powerful tool called prayer.
