The Tree of Life in the Bible

People dream to live long, everyone wants to live a long life, but they all come to die whether they are poor or rich. It is written that man is the lord of all creation. Why is mankind, the lord of all creation a slave to death? The Bible says that the history of human death originated from the garden of Eden. Where there is a problem there is a solution. The secret to live forever in the garden is the tree of life.

The Tree of Life, the Secret Hidden Since the Creation of the World

Matthew 13:34-35 Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: “I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.

Jesus uttered things hidden since the creation of the world through parables. Among the 66 books of the Bible, it is only the book of Genesis that contains the history of creation. Among many secrets in Genesis, let us study about the tree of life.

Genesis 2:16-17 And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

God put Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden and gave them a command not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However, Adam and Eve were tempted by the serpent and ate the forbidden fruit, and as a result, death came upon all mankind.

Then, is there no way for mankind to live forever? For the salvation of mankind, God put the tree of life in the garden of Eden.

Genesis 3:22-23 And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

Even sinners could live forever if they ate from the tree of life. However, God did not allow them to come near the tree of life. He placed the cherubim with flaming sword to guard the way to the tree of life.

Passover, the Reality of the Tree of Life

Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us. The history of the garden of Eden was a shadow showing us human beings how we committed sins in Heaven and were expelled to this earth. Adam and Eve who came to die because of sin of eating from the forbidden tree, could live again by eating from the tree of life. This shows that even souls who came to die because of sins committed in heaven can live forever if they eat from the tree of life.

Then, what is the way to eat from the tree of life in Eden?

John 6:53-54 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Jesus who revealed secrets hidden since the creation, said unless we eat His flesh and drink His blood, we do not have life in us. In other words, Jesus’ flesh and blood is the reality of the tree of life in Eden. He also showed us the way to eat His flesh and blood.

Matthew 26:17-19 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’ ” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

Matthew 26:26-28 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Jesus commanded His disciples to prepare the Passover. The Passover bread is His flesh and Passover wine is His blood. Passover is a ceremony through which we eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood. To escape death and live forever, we must keep the Passover of the New Covenant.

Christ Who Brought the Passover

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

It is God who blocked the way to the tree of life. No one can permit what God forbade, that is why God Himself came with the name Jesus to give us life. The Passover of the New Covenant is the truth of life God brought. However, the one who tempted Adam and Eve to eat from the forbidden tree abolished the Passover- the way to salvation. Without the Passover of the New Covenant no one can be saved, that is why the Bible prophesied that Christ will appear a second time to bring salvation.

Hebrews 9:28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

The purpose of God’s coming a second time is to bring salvation. Christ who comes a second time must bring the Passover. For about 1,600 years, after the Passover was abolished, there was nobody who could restore the Passover, not even religious leaders or biblical scholars. This is because only God can open the way to the tree of life.

Our Heavenly Father Ahnsahnghong brought us the Passover, the tree of life in this age. He is our God and we trust in Him. Let us firmly believe in Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother Jerusalem to receive salvation and go to our heavenly home we had left on account of our sin.
