Coming On the Cloud What Does it Mean

Incorrect Idea About Coming on the Cloud

Today many Christians worldwide await the Second Coming of Christ. They think that when Christ comes a second time on a literal cloud, the world will be destroyed and God’s people will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. However, their thoughts contradict the testimonies of the Bible.

Luke 21:27-28 At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

Does the Bible say that as soon as Jesus comes a second time on the cloud, the world will be judged and God’s saint will enter Heaven immediately? Certainly not.  It says when the Second Coming Christ comes in a cloud, we should stand up and lift up our heads because our redemption is drawing near. In simple terms, we should prepare to enter the Kingdom of Heaven as it is drawing near. Therefore it is not time to enter Heaven yet when Jesus comes a second time, instead, He comes before the last judgment.

Like this, there is a great difference between their thoughts on Jesus’ second coming and the testimonies of the Bible. Considering this, we need to study about Jesus’ coming on the cloud. They think that Jesus will appear on an actual cloud of the sky and make their own doctrine, but their teaching also contradicts the teachings of the Bible. The cloud is not a literal cloud but, a parable. If we do not know about this, we will fail to receive the second coming Christ. So, what does the cloud symbolize?

Jesus Came With the Clouds at His First Coming

By studying the prophecy about Jesus’ first coming, we can understand what the cloud stands for. In the Old Testament, the Bible prophesied that the First Coming Jesus would come with the clouds of heaven.

Daniel 7:13-14 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given, authority, glory and sovereign power [Kingdom, KJV]; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

This prophecy was recorded 600 years before Jesus came for the first time. Who is the Son of man that comes to the earth with clouds? Since the Son of man comes and receives authority, glory, and a kingdom, we can understand who He is if we find out who came to receive authority, glory, and a kingdom according to Daniel’s prophecy.

Matthew 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me “.

John 17:10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them.

Luke 22:29 And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me.

At His first coming, Jesus received authority, glory and a kingdom. Since Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of Daniel, it means that Jesus is the Son of man who came with the clouds. Did Jesus come with literal clouds of the sky? No, He did not. Jesus came to the earth-born like all of us, that is, in the flesh. What? Shall we say then that the prophecy of Daniel is wrong? No! The prophecy “He will come with the clouds” was a parable. Coming on/with the clouds in the Bible means coming in the flesh, as a human being. Succinctly, clouds mean flesh. (Jude 1: 12, Hebrews 12: 1-2, Proverbs 25: 14)

How Does Jesus Come a Second Time on the Cloud?

The Bible says that Jesus comes a second time on the cloud before Judgment too (Luke 21: 27-28). What does it mean that He will come again on the clouds? Since clouds symbolize the flesh, it means that Jesus will come again in the flesh. If we do not receive the second coming Christ, will we be saved? Never. That being so, let us attain eternal life, by receiving Christ who has already come a second time.
