Namibia Church of God History and Introduction

World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) is a Church established in 1964 by Christ Ahnsahnghong, who came to South Korea at the ends of the earth, fulfilling the prophecies in the Bible, such as the Prophecy of the Throne of King David and the Parable of the Fig Tree. In just 50 years since its establishment, the Church of God has achieved explosive growth with 7,500 churches in 175 countries and 3.5 million members worldwide.

The relationship between the Republic of Namibia and the Church of God began with the Daegu Summer Universiade held in South Korea in 2003. From the welcoming ceremony of the athletes from the ‘Brave Country’ Namibia, the Church of God, which has been active as a supporter for athletes around the world, cheered for the Namibian athletes at each competition.

The Church of God’s gospel mission in Africa, which began in South Africa, the southernmost part of Africa in 2004, soon spread to Namibia, and the Church of God members in Namibia are faithfully fulfilling their mission to spread the gospel of God, by conducting short-term missions in Swakopmund, hoping for peace, happiness, and above all, salvation for the people of Namibia.

In addition, the Namibia Blood Transfusion Service (NamBTS) presented a Citation Award to the Church of God in Namibia during a blood drive campaign to save lives, which was conducted according to God’s word, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

In agreement with environmental conservation that the Namibian government is aiming for, the members of the Church of God in Namibia held a cleanup in Cimbebasia, Windhoek, as well as other various areas, and the NBC broadcasting station showed great interest in their volunteer work. The Namibian, a prominent Namibian daily newspaper, reported on the cleanup activities that ASEZ WAO, a volunteer group composed of young adult workers from the Church of God, conducted in Five Rand, which is located at the outskirts of Okahandja.

World Mission Society Church of God Belief Summary

The name “Church of God,” originated from the Bible, meaning ‘the church established by God,’ or ‘the church where God is the owner’ (Corinthians 1:2, Galatians 1:13). The World Mission Society Church of God’s belief is based solely on the Bible, the Word of God.

The Church of God not only believes in God the Father but also God the Mother as evidenced in the Bible. God the Mother is testified throughout the entire Bible. Elohim, which means ‘Gods’ is expressed approximately 2,500 times in the Bible, and it concretely reveals the existence of God the Mother.

The Church of God is taking the lead in keeping and preaching the truth of the New Covenant that Jesus taught and set an example of for the apostles 2,000 years ago. The Church of God keeps the New Covenant Passover (Matthew 26:17-28, Luke 22:7-20) and the seventh day Sabbath (Saturday) (Exodus 20:8-11, Luke 4:16). The Church also keeps the Feasts of God such as the Pentecost and the Feast of Tabernacles (Leviticus 23:1-44, Acts 2:1, John 7:2, 37-39), and following the examples of Christ, the women members wear a veil during prayer and worship (1 Corinthians 11:1-16).

The Church of God completely rejects whatever Jesus did not teach. The Church does not make or set up a cross because it is an idol and was just an instrument used for death. The Church does not observe days that are not based on the Bible, such as Christmas, which originated from the sun god festival, Sunday, the day of the sun god appointed by a Roman emperor, Thanksgiving, which is not based on the Bible, etc.

The Church of God takes the lead in caring for the environment such as city streets, parks, rivers, and beaches, where members live together with our neighbors, and the members also put into practice volunteer activities that transcends borders, race and religion to help neighbors when they are in trouble.
